REFERENCING A 'PLAN':
For more than two decades, the U.S. position has been that al Qaeda acted
alone on 11 SEPTEMBER, but a newly public video has raised questions about
whether the Saudi government provided crucial assistance to the hijackers
during the 9/11 terror attacks.
Omar al-Bayoumi, whom the FBI says was an operative of the Saudi
intelligence service with close ties to two of the 9/11 hijackers, can be
heard on the video, which was unsealed in federal court this week and
obtained by 60 Minutes. The 1999 video was taken within 90 days of the time
when senior al Qaeda planners were deciding on 9/11 targets, Richard
Lambert, a retired FBI agent who led the initial 9/11 investigation in San
Diego, said.
"It is another very large brick in a massive wall of evidence that at this
point indicates the Saudi government was complicit in the 9/11 attacks,"
Lambert said.

Bayoumi filmed the video over the course of several days. It shows
entrances and exits of the U.S. Capitol along with security posts and a
model of the building. At one point, he points out the Washington Monument
and says he'll go there and "report to you in detail what is there." He
also notes the airport is nearby.
Lambert, who's now a consultant on the case filed by the families of 9/11
victims to hold Saudi Arabia responsible in the Sept. 11 attacks, said
knowledge of where the Washington Monument is in relation to other D.C.
landmarks could help guide people toward intended targets.
British police found the video during a raid on Bayoumi's U.K. apartment in
the days after 9/11. They also seized Bayoumi's hand-written address book
that the lawyers for the 9/11 families say was filled with phone numbers of
numerous senior Saudi officials who were in the government at the time.
When Bayoumi recorded the Washington video, he was often with two Saudi
diplomats who the FBI says had "ties to al Qaeda," a finding the Saudi
government disputes.
Retired FBI agent Ken Williams led the 9/11 investigation in Phoenix, where
one of the hijackers attended flight school. He believes the Bayoumi video
"ranks right at the top of the pile" of evidence. Williams strongly
disagrees with the Saudi government's stance that the video was one Bayoumi
took as a tourist.
The British police are believed to have turned over the video to the FBI
shortly after 9/11, which raises the question: why, after more than 20
years, is it just now surfacing?
"If that was missed then shame on us for missing it," Williams, who is also
a consultant on the case filed by the 9/11 families, said. "If it wasn't
missed, then I would have to ask the question: What was done with it?"
The Saudi government and Bayoumi deny any involvement in the 9/11 attacks
and lawyers for the government have filed a motion to dismiss the case.

Tawaf, derived from the Arabic verb “Taafa,” means “to encircle”. In the
Islamic context, Tawaf involves walking around the Holy Kaaba seven times
in an anti-clockwise direction. Pilgrims start from Hajr-al-Aswad (the
Black Stone) and complete this ritual during Umrah or Hajj. The Kaaba, a
cube-shaped structure in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is the most sacred spot for
Muslims worldwide. They orient themselves toward it during daily prayers,
bury their dead facing its meridian, and aspire to visit it on pilgrimage.
The Kaaba’s interior contains three pillars supporting the roof and
suspended silver and gold lamps. The Black Stone (al-Ḥajar al-Aswad) is
located in its eastern corner. Legend holds that this stone, originally
white, turned black by absorbing the sins of countless pilgrims who touched
and kissed it. Every Muslim performing Hajj or Umrah is required to walk
around the Kaaba counterclockwise seven times, and while doing so, touching
or kissing the Black Stone is encouraged but not mandatory."

Some German towns must be protected at all costs—Weimar, Nuremberg,

appearance. When one examines the 8'8 with the eye of a technician, one
realises that it is the most beautiful weapon yet fashioned, with the
exception of the 12-8.

With a new type of weapon, much often depends on the hands into which it is
first delivered. If it comes first into clumsy, incapable hands, we are

a detailed analysis of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 and the
Israeli assault on Gaza. The report finds both sides committed war
crimes but concludes there is no evidence to support the claim that
Hamas engaged in mass rape during its rampage in southern Israel. The
COI found evidence of Israel intentionally killing civilians and
Israeli forces engaged in acts of sexual torture.
The reports analysis of the events on October 7 concluded Hamas
intentionally targeted two dozen civilian targets, leading to hundreds
of deaths. The COI found evidence that members of Hamas committed
sexual assaults on Israelis, with some female bodies found undressed.
However, the report debunks the widespread claim that top Israeli and
US officials have often repeated that Hamas engaged in mass rape
during its attack. The Commission has reviewed testimonies obtained
by journalists and the Israeli police concerning rape but has not been
able to independently verify such allegations, the report says.
Additionally, the Commission found some specific allegations to be
false, inaccurate or contradictory with other evidence or statements
and discounted these from its assessment.
While the assertion that Hamas engaged in mass rape on October 7 has
been widely discussed in the US media, the Palestinian accusations
that Israeli forces have systematically engaged in horrific sexual
violence have gone largely unreported.
The COI found evidence to back the Palestinian claims that Israel is
engaging in systemic sexual torture and humiliation. Based on
testimonies and verified video footage and photographs, the Commission
finds that sexual violence has been perpetrated throughout the
[Israeli enforced] evacuation processes. The report continues,
Palestinians were made to watch members of their family and community
strip in public and walk completely or partially undressed while
subjected to sexual harassment.
The Israeli forces inflicted sexual torture on males, according to the
COI. Males were repeatedly filmed and photographed by soldiers while
subjected to forced public stripping and nudity, sexual torture and
inhumane or cruel treatment, the report found.
The COI concluded that the Israeli forces were authorized or allowed
to engage in the sexual abuse. The Commission concludes that forced
public stripping and nudity and other types of abuse by Israeli
military personnel were either ordered or condoned. It adds, These
acts were intended to humiliate and degrade the victims and the
Palestinian community at large by perpetuating gender stereotypes that
create a sense of shame, subordination, emasculation and inferiority.
Additionally, the Commission found evidence that Israeli forces have
been given the authority to target civilians. Given information
suggesting relatively low numbers of Hamas militants in proportion to
the wider civilian population, and given Israels repeated assertion
that militants are embedded within the civilian population, the
authors of the report conclude, statements indicate that the Israeli
Government has given [Israeli Security Forces] blanket authorization
to target civilian locations widely and indiscriminately in the Gaza
Strip.
The COI recommends an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, something the White
House has resisted over the past eight months. Last month, President
Joe Biden unveiled a ceasefire proposal he claimed originated in Tel
Aviv. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has continued to
dismiss the idea of a permanent end to the conflict.
The US has significant leverage over Israel and could condition future
aid to Tel Aviv on Netanyahu ending the onslaught. Nevertheless, Biden
has refused to place any meaningful restriction on arms shipment to
Tel Aviv.
