Israeli forces used “lethal force without justification” when they
shot and killed Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the
occupied West Bank, violating her “right to life”, according to a new
report by a UN-mandated investigative body.

The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied
Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel “concluded
on reasonable grounds that Israeli forces used lethal force without
justification under international human rights law”, it said in a
report released on Monday.

Abu Akleh, a Palestinian-American and acclaimed correspondent for the
Doha-based media network, was shot in the head while covering an
Israeli military raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West
Bank in May 2022.

“The killing of Shireen Abu Akleh in Jenin is a direct result of
Israel’s militarisation of law enforcement operations in the West
Bank, including East Jerusalem,” said Navi Pillay, Chair of the
Commission.

“Shireen Abu Akleh is another victim of the excessive and
disproportionate force used by Israeli security forces in these
operations. This was also an attack against journalists, who were all
clearly identifiable, which is a recurring pattern identified by the
Commission.”

The UN body recommended that the Israeli government cooperate fully
with the United States investigation into the killing of Abu Akleh. It
said it would provide the evidence it collected to the International
Criminal Court for its investigation into the Situation in the State
of Palestine.

Surrey RCMP is seeking this man, who is accused of throwing eggs and drawing a swastika on a rabbi's home.

RCMP in Surrey have released a photo of a man accused of targeting a rabbi's home with eggs and Nazi graffiti.

The incident happened on Oct. 13, just after 6:30 p.m. Mounties said the suspect egged the home and painted a swastika on it.

Zev Schtroks, the rabbi’s son who also lives at the house, told Global News he spoke with a man holding a carton of eggs who asked if the home was a Jewish temple.

Zev said he told the man it was a Jewish temple, and shortly after, the man started throwing eggs at the building. Zev then took out his cellphone, started recording video, and called police.

Rabbi Schtroks said he was not shocked at what happened.

“Like most Jewish people, I know our history and the call that went around on the internet to do something to Jewish people worldwide,” he said.

Police responded, but weren't able to locate the suspect at the scene. The B.C. Hate Crimes Unit is assisting in the investigation.

“We recognize that incidents of this nature impact the feeling of safety and security for members of our Jewish community,” Surrey RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Vanessa Munn said in a media release.

“Hate has no place in our city and our officers are working to identify the person responsible so that they can be held accountable.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous.

Saw on BBC News that while there has been a rise in anti Moslem incidents there there has been 115 anti-Jewish incidents in a week. Sadly in Illinois a 71 year old man stabbed a 6 yr old Palestinian-American dead after first stabbing its mother who then fled into a locked bathroom. The dead child's Dad said the accused killer had previously given the boy toys and built him a treehouse. The accused killers front yard had campaign yard signs in a circle on the ground never seen that before.
